Don’t let your pregnant or lactating patients gamble with their health or the health of their unborn or nursing babies! This program will help you field questions and counsel your pregnant or nursing mothers on appropriate self-care treatments, selections of prenatal vitamins and supplements, and supplements that are available for increasing and/or maintaining breast milk production. This program will also review the updated regulations surrounding pregnancy and lactation labeling and help you identify the resources available to pharmacists to help pregnant and nursing mothers make healthy medication-related decisions.
1. Communicate appropriate self-care recommendations for pregnant and breast-feeding mothers
2. Compare available prenatal vitamins and supplements in order to aid patients in their selections
3. Identify available products and supplements used for increasing breast milk production
4. Describe the updates to regulations surrounding product labeling for pregnancy and lactation
5. Reference available drug information resources specific to pregnancy and lactation
Christine Jordan, PharmD, Clinical Coordinator, Giant Eagle Pharmacy
Dr. Christine Jordan is a clinical coordinator with Giant Eagle Pharmacy in the Pittsburgh East region. Dr. Jordan is responsible for the implementation and execution of clinical programs within pharmacy locations in the northern region of Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014 and recently completed a community practice residency program with the University of Pittsburgh and Giant Eagle Pharmacy in June of 2015.

Dr. Reneé Richardson is a clinical coordinator with Giant Eagle Pharmacy in the Pittsburgh East region. A 2009 graduate of Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy, Dr. Richardson completed a PGY1 community practice residency with Giant Eagle, Duquesne University, and Pfizer. She has 10 years’ experience in retail and experience in ambulatory care.
